PET DIABETES

Pet Diabetes
Diabetes Mellitus (sugar diabetes) affects as many as 1 in 200 dogs and cats. Left untreated, diabetes can cause serious illness and premature death. The earlier diabetes is diagnosed and treated the better. Common signs of diabetes include:
- Excessive thirst
- Frequent urination
- Weight loss despite constant hunger
- Lethargy
Untreated diabetic animals usually have sugar in their urine.
If you would like to check your pet for diabetes, you can pick up a leaflet and free urine glucose test strip from either of our surgeries during November. Then follow the instructions in the leaflet.
For more information go to www.petdiabetesmonth.co.uk or speak to one of our vets.
Each visit to the diabetes website results in a 10p donation to the PDSA
