Is it worth getting my pet insured?

Pet Plan logoPet insurance is primarily designed to cover the cost of vet fees for the treatment of illness and injury. Other policy benefits can include meeting the cost of advertising, and rewards for lost and stolen pets, and paying for looking after your animal if you have to go into hospital.

It is best if you can afford it, to have a lifetime policy as chronic longterm conditions will be covered year after year. Remeber it is important not to change your insurance policy as previous illness may cause exclusions in the new policy.

Why do I need pet insurance?

  • Advances in veterinary medicine mean your vet can do more for your pet but treatment can be expensive.
  • 1 in 3 pets need urgent veterinary treatment each year.
  • Third Party Liability for dogs is increasingly important in case of legal action.
  • Having your pet insured means you can concentrate on whats best for your pet rather than worrying about the veterinary bills.
  • You are more likely to claim on your pet insurance than your car or household polocies (Source: Allianz Insurance plc)
